| Shabbir Ahmed | 46:21 And remember the brother of Aad when he warned his people in their Land of Sand-dunes. Warners came and went before and after him, saying, Serve none but God. I fear for you the retribution of a Tremendous Day. |
| A | 46:21 واذكر اخا عاد اذ انذر قومه بالاحقاف وقد خلت النذر من بين يديه ومن خلفه الا تعبدوا الا الله انى اخاف عليكم عذاب يوم عظيم |
| Shabbir Ahmed | 46:22 They answered, Have you come to turn us away from our gods? Bring us, then, what you are threatening us with, if you are of the truthful. |
| A | 46:22 قالوا اجئتنا لتافكنا عن ءالهتنا فاتنا بما تعدنا ان كنت من الصدقين |
| Shabbir Ahmed | 46:23 He said, That knowledge is with God alone. I announce to you the Mission on which I have been sent. But I see that you are a people who prefer to live in the darkness of ignorance. |
| A | 46:23 قال انما العلم عند الله وابلغكم ما ارسلت به ولكنى ارىكم قوما تجهلون |
| Shabbir Ahmed | 46:24 And so, when they saw a dense cloud approaching their valleys, they said, Here is a dense cloud bringing us the needed rain. Nay, this is the very thing you were asking to be hastened a wind wherein is a grievous torment, |
| A | 46:24 فلما راوه عارضا مستقبل اوديتهم قالوا هذا عارض ممطرنا بل هو ما استعجلتم به ريح فيها عذاب اليم |
| Shabbir Ahmed | 46:25 Bound to destroy everything by its Lords command. And the morning found them so that nothing could be seen but their empty dwellings. Thus We reward the guilty. |
| A | 46:25 تدمر كل شىء بامر ربها فاصبحوا لا يرى الا مسكنهم كذلك نجزى القوم المجرمين |
| Shabbir Ahmed | 46:26 And certainly, We had established them in the land better than We ever established you, and We had given them keen faculties of hearing, sight and intellect. But their hearing and sight and intellect did not avail them when they went on knowingly rejecting Gods messages. And so, the very thing they used to mock, surrounded them. 8 |
| A | 46:26 ولقد مكنهم فيما ان مكنكم فيه وجعلنا لهم سمعا وابصرا وافدة فما اغنى عنهم سمعهم ولا ابصرهم ولا افدتهم من شىء اذ كانوا يجحدون بايت الله وحاق بهم ما كانوا به يستهزءون |
| Shabbir Ahmed | 46:27 Thus We have annihilated many townships all around you, after We had explained Our messages from different vantage points that they might return (to the truth). 9 |
| A | 46:27 ولقد اهلكنا ما حولكم من القرى وصرفنا الءايت لعلهم يرجعون |
| Shabbir Ahmed | 46:28 Why did then no help come to them from those whom they idolized besides God, as a means of nearness (to Him)? Nay, their idols abandoned them, for that was their falsehood and fabrication. |
| A | 46:28 فلولا نصرهم الذين اتخذوا من دون الله قربانا ءالهة بل ضلوا عنهم وذلك افكهم وما كانوا يفترون |
| Shabbir Ahmed | 46:29 (O Messenger!) We turned toward you a company of the nomads so that they might listen to the Quran. And as soon as they were in its presence, they said, Listen in silence. And when it was over, they hurried to their people as warners! 10 |
| A | 46:29 واذ صرفنا اليك نفرا من الجن يستمعون القرءان فلما حضروه قالوا انصتوا فلما قضى ولوا الى قومهم منذرين |
